When I learned that this week’s challenge was an all boy event in honor of Father’s Day, I could not resist sharing this image to contribute as part of the challenge. This is truly my fav from my session this week with Brayden and Family. He is “flyin’ in an airplane…looking out the window…up so very high”. Many thanks to his Daddy, Jeff for holding him high for this delicious sunkissed capture!
Time to catch up here..and since I divided my Paws Petography from MindyKPhotography, I find myself continuing to enjoy both collectively and individually. A world of thanks to my awesome associate Jim McGurk who is comparable to NO ONE when it comes to his graphic illustration and artistic talent not to mention his off the top of his head ideas in creating anything your vision can see in real color. Jim’s mind works ahead of your visual creativity and he immediately brings it to life…ergo my new logo for Paws Petography…I love it! Thank you!!!
It’s crazy to me how offering clients the opportunity for complimentary sessions doesn’t warrant a stampede, especially on these awesome Spring days to get out and shoot. My clients appreciate so much how they receive more than their expectation from the session and I look at that as such a gift to them and an amazing opportunity for me to really identify with clients, because it’s not just about the final images we create, it’s the rapport we get to build while creating those photographic memories they can enjoy for a lifetime.
Tonight Katie and Jeff took me up on my offer for Complimentary Canine Mini Sessions on the Marina and Wow, the weather was amazing!!
And of course when there is a little person involved at my session(s), I always manage to sneak in a few of the ever delicious little one(s)…this event I had the pleasure to capture Brayden…that would be “Jersey” girl’s little brother who blessed us 5 months ago with his sweetness.
Now is it me? or is this little guy giving me the “PEACE” sign below*cheeky grin*
So Baby made 4…and with all the love they share, I am confident there is another little human in their future.

Since photographing families, newborns and children, I have always continued my passion for pets. They are a huge part of any family (as well as my own) I have had the pleasure to work with and their little canine and feline family members have always been made part of the session.
With that I decided to break out my passion for the pets and so Paws Petography was born. While I have secured the domain (url), I have decided to start developing my FAN PAGE on FACEBOOK . It’s been a good start so far get the bark (voice) out for my passion.

Ok I have never done a giveaway before. I currently work full time during the business day and absolutely love what I do (and it’s an important role too). A dear friend of mine wanted to give her daughter something special this year for her 16th birthday. What better gift to give to a teen girl than a super fun photo shoot so she can share some new photos with her facebook friends and family.
So many young teens today love having their photos taken. It’s a nice boost to self image and self esteem especially with so much peer pressure in these teen years through high school…and it makes for a fun and memorable event to look back on these images too.
Brianna was probably my most reserved and shy client, considering my subjects are much younger and much smaller and usually have no idea I am capturing their little faces. Those little clients don’t know the difference between a camera and a toy .
Working with Brianna gave me an opportunity to develop a rapport with a different client audience. She was unpretentious, quiet and I think even at times might have felt awkward (which I found incredibly refreshing) when I explained to her some of the over-exaggerated poses that often make for great images.
Once we spent a little time together out on the docks, she started to really shine. It’s important to convey positive feedback when working with clients who aren’t real familiar in front of a camera and working one on one with a photographer. It helps bring out the best in their posing and Brianna really shined!
What an absolutely gorgeous young lady! I know she will continue to develop that confidence through her high school years and blossom into a fabulous woman…just like her mom!

I won’t begin to say too much about this handsome little man since his parents aren’t online social networkers.
What I can say? He is a blessing, a little miracle and a beautiful gift to an amazing couple whose love will fill this little heart with so much.

My next newborn client isn’t due for a few weeks so naturally I am busy testing out my new 24-70mm L Lens I bought from a friend. With that I received a Valentine’s Day gift from him, a 35mm F/2 prime.
Oh do I just love this little lens! I got the chance to try it out tonight on these most decadent chocolates I purchased online.
I was reading my newsletter from Dose of Divine last week. Lisa Vanderpump’s new e-zine (Lisa is one of the RHBH…oh yes another guilty pleasure of mine ) is all about living luxurious and affordably. She shared these little gourmet chocolates in their sweet little box and also offered a discount to try these fabulous Hollywood delights from one of her favorite chocolatiers. Not only are these rich with flavor, they are also organic.
Each one of these deliciously decadent pieces is decorated with a design that is something very Hollywood chic. Who am I to argue with chic, chocolate…or fabulous?

When I don’t have client sessions scheduled, I won’t let my camera collect any dust. I always look to exercise my photography and this past week was even more reason. I finally have made the leap into a full frame sensor, a Canon 5D. Whoah! Exciting stuff and definitely the opportunity to learn, learn and learn some more.
This camera is a bit smaller in features, resolution, and all around a different shooting game than my Canon 50D. I will miss my 50D but it was time to step up my game. I am very excited to get busy with this camera and have waited some time to acquire my new full frame sensor.
The first part of my weekend, I was able to practice on this little darling, currently identified as “Teddy”. He does look like one doesn’t he? As sweet as can be, that’s for sure. At only 9 weeks, this delightful Golden Doodle will probably buck up to about 65 lbs. But we can just enjoy him for now and his little doodle licks and wags…
This Sunday was a sad day for Baltimore Fans as the Ravens who played their hearts out against the New England Patriots, but unfortunately they did not take home the championship and move on to the Superbowl. I prepped my canine BFF Milou before the game. He doesn’t look very pleased with the dress rehearsal before the game, but he is quite the canine trooper….
I also spent a bit of time playing with my Canon 100 F/2 while the flutter variety of finches and other like minded flying creatures graced my deck to feed during this cold winter day. I really enjoy nature, capturing creatures in any environment and shooting from my living room to my deck makes for some great images!
If you don’t have client sessions scheduled, get out and shoot something but keep on honing your skills because there is beauty all around you….
Happy New Year! It’s good to start another year with new clients, new aspirations, goals and new ideas!
While I still work full time supporting our military, I just adore my passion for photography. Folks often ask me why I don’t just do Photography full time. I understand that in today’s economy and in a saturated market like mine {Child/Family/Newborn/Pet Photographers}, you have to really be on top of the game and create a niche and style for yourself. I continue to work my own style and I know how much I already love to capture family memories, including pets! I just can’t imagine not having either of these roles in my life because I am very blessed to enjoy what I do so much in both!
The benefit of working full time and having a part time photography business provides me the ability to work with so many different people and share my passion while continuing to build my client base. I was able to do that with Upesh and was so thrilled when he called me at the office and accepted my offer to come to their home to create their first professional newborn photographic memories of lil’ Simon, born just 11 days ago today!
When Upesh told me about their big great room with lots of light and windows, I was whoohooin before I even arrived. Kimber and Upesh are amazing new parents and their relaxed demeanor during the session made for a perfect combination.
Simon was awake once or twice during the session but I could have stayed all day to capture this little bundle (and I almost did!) He was perfect in skin, in personality and in my overall ability to manipulate his little body into posing as well as prop changing.
I so enjoyed my time with him and with Kimber and Upesh and I can say that this was by far the most enjoyable way to jump start my year with photographic passion.
I just love little hands and feet and make sure to capture them as part of my newborn sessions because they are just the sweetest little limbs to capture. It’s so funny to listen to parents comment about their child’s hands or feet.
I am hopeful that they will have me back for his 6-month session since I recommended that’s the next best stage to capture all their little delight!
For now, their family and friends can enjoy the moment of his gracing their world and forever changing their lives, bringing the new challenges of parenthood. No one said it’s an easy road, but it really is the most precious gift!
